An upright vigorous cultivar with good productivity and excellent mildew resistance. the oval shaped berries are firm and have an excellent flavour, superb for freezing. Boreal beast is a great variety to pollinate mid-season to late blooming varieties and is compatible with many cultivars including other Boreal varieties. Needs a pollination partner of Boreal Blizzard, Boreal Beauty or Strawberry Sensation Plant 1.5m (5ft) – 2m (7ft) apart, in rows 4ft (14ft) apart. Eventual height and spread: 1.8m x 1.5m Crops: June/July Native to Siberia, this edible member of the honeysuckle family is incredibly hardy (down to -40C!) and is a wonderful addition to the ever-growing range of super-fruits.  The large elliptical berries are a similar colour and taste to blueberries with a slight aftertaste of honey.  The fruit is very high in antioxidants, loaded with vitamin C and retains flavour and form when frozen.  Honeyberries are a versatile fruit as they can be eaten fresh and used in making jams, jellies and even ice-cream!  Very hardy, drought resistant and easy to grow with the added advantage of being virtually pest and disease free.  Unlike blueberries, does not require acidic soil.
